Officially named Roshchino International Airport imeni D.I. Mendeleeva since 2019 (Russia's 'Great Names' honorary-naming programme, honoring the chemist born in nearby Tobolsk). Roshchino is the primary hub for Utair and Yamal Airlines, linking Tyumen to Moscow and regional Siberian points, and it operates round-the-clock with no curfew. A 2023-2027 terminal expansion (27,000 sqm growing to 46,000 sqm, targeting 3.8 million annual capacity) had its first stage - new domestic gates and business lounges - completed in March 2025; full-year 2025 traffic eased slightly to 2,760,338 passengers (-0.5%) after strong growth in 2023 (2,601,128, +11.1%) and 2024 (2,776,417, +6.7%). As at other Russian airports, Western fuel majors, ground handlers, caterers and MRO providers exited after February 2022; scheduled international service is now confined to CIS, Turkish and other markets outside the EU/UK/US airspace and overflight bans on Russian carriers.
