Sole airport serving Île des Pins (Kunié), one of New Caledonia's leading tourism destinations. Air Calédonie is the only scheduled operator, flying ATR turboprops from Nouméa-La Tontouta after Air Calédonie transferred all its operations there when Nouméa-Magenta closed on 2 March 2026. Moué aerodrome itself was disrupted for most of March 2026 by a wider wave of domestic-airport blockades that also hit the Loyalty Islands; Air Calédonie announced a progressive resumption of Île des Pins flights from 30 March 2026. The disruption compounded serious financial strain at Air Calédonie, which is reported to have entered court-supervised restructuring (redressement judiciaire) in April 2026, with no confirmed resolution as of mid-2026 - a real risk to schedule reliability worth checking before travel. The stated 107,065-passenger figure is Aeroport.fr's 2018 count and is well out of date: island tourism, and with it airport traffic, has fallen sharply since, driven by COVID-19, the May 2024 riots and the 2026 blockade/financial crisis, though a precise current figure could not be confirmed.
