Ugolny Airport (Anadyr) named after Yuri Rytkheu DYR / UHMA

Ugolny is the sole scheduled-service air gateway to Chukotka Autonomous Okrug's capital and the region's principal hub, feeding smaller strips across the Chukchi Peninsula; it carries international-airport status but current scheduled service is domestic only (routes to Moscow, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky), so customs/immigration facilities exist mainly for charter and diversion use rather than regular international flights. The terminal is physically separated from Anadyr city by the Anadyr estuary -- see hours for the seasonal ferry/ice-road/helicopter transfer, a real connection-time constraint for planners. A modern ILS-2700/DME instrument landing system was commissioned on runway 01 (course 012 degrees) on 1 December 2022, replacing the old SP-90 beacon, though its ICAO category has not been published in available sources. The airport was officially renamed 'Ugolny Yuri Rytkheu Airport' in 2019 under Russia's nationwide 'Great Names' airport-naming program, honoring the Chukchi writer. The latest confirmed full-year passenger figure is 110,113 (2021). More recent partial-year reporting shows traffic well above that level: Anadyr alone logged roughly 100,000 passengers in just January-September 2025, against 188,000 for all nine FKP-operated Chukotka airports combined over those same nine months (itself up from 172,000 systemwide over Jan-Sep 2024), and the nine-airport network is separately cited at roughly 224,000 passengers for full-year 2024 with Anadyr the busiest of the group -- but no separately confirmed Anadyr-only full-year total newer than 2021 was found, so the 110,113 figure should be treated as dated pending a fresher official release. As with other Russian airports, expect no Western-brand fuel, handling or MRO providers post-2022, and confirm security/PPR requirements directly with the operator given the field's continued joint civil-military role.
