Ufa International Airport UFA / UWUU

Ufa is the Volga-region hub for Bashkortostan and one of Russia's ten busiest airports at roughly 4.9 million passengers a year (2025), split between a rebuilt domestic terminal (T1, 2007) and an international terminal (T2) opened in spring 2021. The airport carries the honorary name of writer Mustai Karim, assigned by Presidential Decree No. 246 of 31 May 2019 under the 'Great Names of Russia' program — not 2022 as sometimes stated. Only one runway is currently active: 14R/32L (3,761 m, concrete); the parallel strip 14L/32R (2,513 m, concrete) is closed/decommissioned per current aeronautical-database records, so the field now operates single-runway. Precision-approach (ILS) category on 14R/32L could not be independently confirmed as of 2026-09-02. International connections have been sharply curtailed since February 2022 under Western airspace closures and sanctions on Russian carriers — Western fuel majors and handlers have exited, and the field supplies Russian-standard TS-1 jet fuel rather than Western-branded Jet A-1 — leaving mostly CIS, Turkish, and limited Gulf/Chinese links alongside dense domestic service (up to 15 daily flights to Moscow).
