Operating hoursH24 — aerodrome, ATC, customs/immigration, fuelling and ground handling all operate around the clock, no curfew; runway 01/19 has dual-directional Category I precision approach lighting/ILS to support low-visibility operations, though severe fog can still force closures (e.g. Nov 2015 — not). Single-runway field today; a Phase II project (new T2 terminal plus two additional 3,600m runways, targeting Code 4F and ~55M pax/yr capacity) is under construction, with the west-side runway pavement largely complete and flight-calibration/commissioning still pending as of mid-2026 — Chinese state-media coverage from Aug 2026 describes 2026 as the project's "decisive, sprint-to-finish" year, i.e. not yet operational.
TerminalsSingle terminal complex (T1, ~164,000 sqm total) built up in phases: airport opened 1992 with a small original terminal (~10,000-13,000 sqm) and a 2,600m runway; the runway was extended to today's 3,600m in 2000, and the terminal was rebuilt/expanded into an 80,000 sqm main hall in 2005, followed by the South Concourse (29,400 sqm, opened Dec 2015) and North Concourse (54,700 sqm, opened Jul 2021); 57 aircraft stands (36 with boarding bridges as of 2023). A second terminal (T2, main concrete structure completed Nov 2025 as part of the Phase II expansion) is under construction alongside two new 3,600m runways, aiming to lift the airfield to Code 4F and raise design capacity toward ~55M pax/yr, targeted for completion by end of 2026.

Shandong province's second-busiest airport and the principal hub for Shandong Airlines, with China Eastern Airlines and GX Airlines (Beibu Gulf Airlines / 北部湾航空) also based there — draft's earlier reference to "Shenzhen Airlines" as a base carrier is not corroborated by current English/Chinese Wikipedia infoboxes and has been corrected to GX Airlines; handled a record 20,329,972 passengers in 2025 (25th busiest in mainland China, up from a 2024 total that was itself a then-record — exact 2024 figure not). Currently a single-runway (01/19, 3,600m) Code 4E field, but a Phase II expansion — a new T2 terminal plus two more 3,600m runways, upgrading the airfield to Code 4F — is targeted for completion by the end of 2026, positioning Jinan as a larger north-China connecting hub.

Ground handling Available · 2 providers
Shandong Airlines Co., Ltd. (山东航空股份有限公司)
Self-handled, in-house, for its own flights - Shandong Airlines is headquartered and bases its main operation at Jinan Yaoqiang (its home hub), confirmed as a current base carrier per Shandong Airport Management Group's 2026 credit-rating tracking report. Additionally confirmed (Sohu, 23 Nov 2023) that as of 22 Nov 2023 Shandong Airlines took over ALL ground-handling/ramp support at Jinan for sister Air China Group carriers Shenzhen Airlines (ZH) and Kunming Airlines (KY) as well, so it now acts as the primary third-party ground handler for those carriers' TNA flights, not just its own.

China Eastern Airlines Co., Ltd. (中国东方航空股份有限公司)
Self-handled, in-house - China Eastern maintains a flying/operating base at Jinan Yaoqiang and is confirmed as one of the airport's three current base carriers per Shandong Airport Management Group's 2026 credit-rating tracking report (alongside Shandong Airlines and Beibu Gulf Airlines/北部湾航空 - note this supersedes older references naming Shenzhen Airlines as the third base carrier, dropped separately). China Eastern was not part of the Nov 2023 Air-China-group ground-handling handover, so self-handling is presumed to continue; specific TNA facility scope beyond base-carrier status is unconfirmed.

Into-plane agent not separately named - CNAF is presumed to also perform into-plane fuelling as is standard nationally.
