Throughout 2025-2026 regional officials, the southern transport prosecutor, and Russia's Transport Minister have repeatedly said the airport is technically ready and floated 2026 reopening dates, including a July 2026 plan to reopen first for foreign/international visitors only, but Rosaviatsia has consistently declined to confirm any date -- denying an October 2025 restart rumor and giving 'no comment' in March 2026 -- and any restart still depends on a Ministry of Defence decision on the regional airspace rather than on airport readiness. As of 3 September 2026 no official reopening date has been set; ROV remains the most-watched large southern-Russia reopening candidate after Krasnodar, Gelendzhik, and Elista. Planners should treat ROV as non-operational for scheduling purposes until an official reopening is confirmed.
