Krabi International Airport KBV / VTSG

Southern Thailand's Andaman-coast gateway, about 10 km NE of Krabi Town, serving the Krabi/Ao Nang/Railay beach resorts and acting as a relief valve for congested Phuket. DoA's 2025 calendar-year figures show 3,053,553 total pax (2,289,137 domestic, +43.0% y/y; 764,416 international, +244% y/y, driven largely by resumed Chinese and other Asian scheduled/charter services) on 22,718 aircraft movements (+57.6% y/y) — traffic that already exceeds the two-terminal complex's roughly 3M pax/yr design capacity, so peak-season congestion and stand/gate constraints are a live planning risk pending the Terminal 3 project, which regained momentum and fresh Cabinet-level backing in 2026. Single runway 14/32 (3000m x 45m, asphalt concrete) with ILS CAT I on RWY 32 only (RWY 14 is RNAV/VOR approach); the aerodrome itself is H24 but customs/immigration keep restricted hours (0130-0930, on demand), a mismatch worth checking before scheduling international operations. Operator is DoA, not Airports of Thailand (AOT): a 30 Aug 2022 Cabinet resolution to transfer Krabi to AOT was never implemented and was formally shelved by the Transport Ministry in March 2025 — though AOT has since publicly revived its ambition to take over Krabi, Udon Thani and Buri Ram as part of a broader airport-expansion master plan, no transfer had actually taken place as of the current (Aug 2026) AIP.
