A minimal out-island strip for decades (unattended, dusk-dawn VFR, no fuel/FBO), Arthur's Town was rebuilt under the Family Island Airports Renaissance Project and officially recommissioned as 'Arthur's Town International Airport' on May 1, 2026, gaining a new terminal, rebuilt 7,000ft runway, and Customs/Immigration space; Makers Air began scheduled international service from Fort Lauderdale (FXE) on May 12, 2026 alongside existing Bahamasair domestic flights. Despite the new facility, no fuel is available on-site and the operator (flycatisland.com) states customs is not permanently staffed and must be arranged in advance by phone/WhatsApp/email — treat 'international' status as real but appointment-based, not full-time.

Bahamas' flag carrier Bahamasair relaunched scheduled service to Arthur's Town Airport around June 25, 2026 (twice weekly, Thursdays and Sundays, to/from Nassau) after a 20+ year absence, confirmed by Bahamas government press releases and Tribune242/Caribbean Journal reporting. Aviation directories checked (Universal Weather, Business Air News) list no independent FBO, ground handler, or fuel supplier at this airport, and Bahamasair's own listed handling stations are Nassau, Governor's Harbour, and Grand Bahama only — not Arthur's Town — so Bahamasair self-handles its own flights here.
