Talagi Airport ARH / ULAA

Talagi is Arkhangelsk's only airport and the principal air gateway to Russia's White Sea/northwest Arctic coast; hub for Smartavia (the rebranded former Nordavia). Officially styled Arkhangelsk Airport (Talagi) in honor of writer Fyodor Abramov, though "Talagi Airport" remains the name in common English-language use. The single runway (08/26) was resurfaced and strengthened in a May-November 2023 reconstruction closure, reopening 1 December 2023 able to accept Boeing 777-size widebodies; a second passenger pavilion (Pavilion 2) opened 15 March 2024 alongside the original 1964 international (Pavilion 1) and 1972 domestic (Pavilion 3) buildings. Current scheduled service is overwhelmingly domestic Russian (Smartavia/Aeroflot/Rossiya to Moscow Sheremetyevo and St Petersburg, plus Kaliningrad, Naryan-Mar, Sochi and Murmansk); the only regular international connectivity found is seasonal Azur Air/Southwind Airlines charter service to Antalya, Turkey — consistent with the post-2022 pattern across Russian airports in which Western carriers and destinations are absent but Turkey remains served. Nordwind Airlines is scheduled to add a domestic Arkhangelsk-Kazan route from 1 June 2026, per the airport's own site. The 1,500,000-passenger figure (2024, via Russian industry aggregator avia-adv.ru) could not be independently corroborated against an operator or Rosaviatsia primary source and should be treated as an unconfirmed estimate; no 2025 full-year total was located either. The ILS category on 08/26, and the cargo terminal's operator name and public hours, likewise could not be independently confirmed from accessible sources — verify all three via AIP Russia/NOTAM or the operator directly before relying on them. On 12 January 2024 a Smartavia Yak-42 overran the runway on landing (59 aboard: 54 passengers, 5 crew; no injuries), unrelated to current operational status.
