Aklak Air (a Kenn Borek Air / Inuvialuit Development Corporation joint venture) operates seasonal scheduled flights to/from Inuvik during spring and fall closures of the Dempster Highway's Peel River and Mackenzie River ferry/ice-crossing links — including the ferry outage that began July 3, 2026 — when road access to Fort McPherson is cut. No customs, immigration, or confirmed fuel service. Note: unlike neighbouring Yukon, which moved to permanent Pacific Time (no DST) in March 2020, the Northwest Territories — including Fort McPherson — remains on standard Mountain Time with seasonal DST.

Aklak Air
Aklak Air (a joint venture of the Inuvialuit Development Corporation and Kenn Borek Air, based in Inuvik, NT) operates seasonal scheduled flights to Fort McPherson during spring break-up and fall freeze-up, when the Dempster Highway's Peel River crossing is closed to vehicle traffic. Fort McPherson Airport is an uncontrolled gravel-strip aerodrome with no third-party FBO or ground handler based on site, so Aklak Air self-handles its own aircraft, passengers and freight during these operations.
