Qikiqtarjuaq (formerly Broughton Island) is an almost entirely Inuit hamlet of roughly 590 people on Broughton Island off Baffin Island's east coast, settled around a 1955 DEW Line radar station by families relocated from Kivitoo and Padloping Island; Canadian North provides the only scheduled air link, the gravel strip is a noted refuelling stop for ferry flights crossing to/from Greenland and Europe, and the community is the northern gateway to Auyuittuq National Park.
