Airport contact
Reopened in August 2023 after the Soviet-era field, closed since the 1990s, was rebuilt into a single-runway domestic airport for about $5.8m. NovAir (Armenia) is the sole scheduled operator, flying its only aircraft, a 19-seat Let L-410 UVP-E20 (EK-4117), on the Yerevan-Kapan route roughly 5x/week (Mon-Fri) since April 2024, up from 3x/week previously. Scheduled service was suspended from 3 September 2025 while that aircraft underwent heavy maintenance in Brno, Czechia, and resumed 31 March 2026 with the same single airframe, so capacity remains exposed to any further aircraft-on-ground event given the one-aircraft fleet. No official annual passenger total has been published; the only public figure is a 2024 count of 71 round-trip flights, and with a 19-seat aircraft flying a reduced weekly schedule for part of the year, annual traffic is realistically in the low thousands. In January 2026 a fifth amendment to the Zvartnots concession lifted the exclusivity restriction that had blocked Corporacion America from also managing Kapan and committed the group to $425m in capital works through 2033, opening a legal path toward international status, but as of September 2026 the airport remains domestic-only with no customs, immigration, or on-site fuel service (aircraft are fuelled and serviced at Yerevan).

Syunik Airport LLC
Airport operator provides passenger check-in, security screening and basic ramp/ground handling for the sole scheduled carrier (NovAir/Armenia, Kapan-Yerevan, on a single 19-seat L-410 Turbolet, frequency has ranged from twice/thrice weekly at 2023 relaunch up to five days a week Mon-Fri by 2024-2025, service resumed 31 Mar 2026 after aircraft maintenance); confirmed via the airport's own site and third-party airport profiles (UNIS, CAPA); no separate third-party handling agent identified at this single-route domestic field, so the airport operator is the de facto handler.
