Gander International Airport YQX / CYQX

Legendary transatlantic refueling stop of the propeller era — its oversized 10,200 ft runway 03/21 was built to handle every piston- and early jet-era aircraft crossing the Atlantic, and Gander famously took in 38 diverted flights on 9/11. Today it is served by Air Canada (year-round Halifax, St. John's and Goose Bay; seasonal nonstop Toronto), PAL Airlines' Eastern Canada/Newfoundland-Labrador network, and seasonal Sunwing charters to Toronto and southern sun destinations; the still-active CBSA customs post keeps it a go-to technical/refueling stop for business jets, cargo, and military traffic crossing the North Atlantic.
