Puvirnituq Airport is the principal air transportation hub for Nunavik's Hudson Bay coast, serving the Inuit community of Puvirnituq and connecting it to smaller fly-in-only villages further north as well as to Kuujjuaq and Montreal-Trudeau; owned by Quebec's Ministry of Transport and operated by the Kativik Regional Government since 1996 on behalf of the Nunavik Inuit communities. Served exclusively by Air Inuit (turboprop and combi/cargo 737 service); Puvirnituq has no year-round road access, so aviation (supplemented by summer sealift) is the community's only link to the outside world.
