Salekhard is a federal-significance domestic gateway to the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, 7 km north of the city, with a single 2,718 m asphalt-concrete runway (04/22, PCN 39/R/B/X/T) and no ILS on either threshold; navigation aids are limited to a co-located VOR/NDB. Yamal Airlines is the resident hub carrier, linking Salekhard to Moscow (Domodedovo/Sheremetyevo), St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Novy Urengoy, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Ufa, Nadym and Tarko-Sale plus seasonal Sochi and Mineralnye Vody service; RusLine serves Khanty-Mansiysk and S7 Airlines added Novosibirsk from 1 April 2025. A network of helicopter routes also links outlying YNAO settlements. The field carries no scheduled international routes and no active customs/immigration point, and doubles as a designated emergency diversion field for transpolar/cross-polar airliner routes. LLC 'Airport Salekhard', a Novaport Holding subsidiary, took over management from the prior JSC operator on 20 June 2024. Passenger traffic has climbed steadily — 388,800 (2021), 411,000 (2022), 455,700 (2023), the latest confirmed full-year figure; no newer annual total has been published.
