The most recent independently corroborated traffic figure is about 1.63 million passengers in 2025 (per Kommersant reporting in mid-2026); an often-cited ~1.7 million figure for 2024 could not be independently confirmed and should be treated as unverified rather than superseded fact. The honorary 'named after Dmitry Karbyshev' suffix was added 31 May 2019 as part of Russia's 2018-19 'Great Names of Russia' airport-renaming program and is rarely used operationally. As with other Russian airports since February 2022, Western sanctions have pushed out Western fuel majors, handlers and lessors, and EU/UK/US carriers and airspace are closed to Russian-flagged aircraft. Omsk sits deep in southwestern Siberia, far from the Ukraine border; it recorded its first locally reported drone alert on 10 June 2026 (sirens sounded around 09:20 local time, with the regional governor announcing the threat rescinded roughly two hours later and no public explanation given), and the airport operator has since contracted for a perimeter counter-UAS detection system (an 'Aura' complex).
