Long known simply as Yemelyanovo — still the everyday name and the origin of the ICAO/IATA designators — the field was rebranded 'Krasnoyarsk International' in 2017-19 (formalized March 2019) and in 2019 additionally took the honorary suffix 'named after Dmitri Khvorostovsky', the Krasnoyarsk-born opera baritone, under Russia's 'Great Names of Russia' airport-renaming program; the honorific rarely appears in day-to-day operational use despite being part of the airport's current official full name. The airport has a single 3,700m runway (11/29), rated ILS CAT II — a one-runway field despite serving Siberia's second-busiest traffic base. 2025 full-year traffic was 4,261,211 passengers per regional press citing the airport's own release, essentially flat versus 2024 (a trade-press figure of 4.264M/-0.5% gives the same order of magnitude, consistent with the prior year's roughly 4.28M total, so treat the exact digit as a preliminary count pending Rosaviatsia's confirmed annual total); international traffic (787k, +5.2%) grew while domestic held near 3.47M, China routes expanded over 60%, and new international service started to Yerevan, Dushanbe, Nha Trang and Shymkent. The ownership chain shown in the operator field is unconfirmed for the current period. As with all Russian airports since the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Western fuel majors, ground handlers, caterers and MRO providers have exited the market, EU/UK/US carriers are excluded, and spares sourcing for Western-built aircraft is complicated; Krasnoyarsk sits deep in central Siberia, far from the Ukraine border and Black Sea, and has seen far less war-related airspace disruption than airports in western or southern Russia — but current Rosaviatsia NOTAMs should still be checked before flight planning given how quickly that picture can change.
