A remote interior airstrip on the Lawa River near the Suriname border, Grand-Santi is served by two competing carriers on domestic hops to Cayenne, Maripasoula and Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni: Guyane Express Fly (successor to the liquidated Air Guyane Express) and Van Air Guyane, which launched rival service in 2025; both fly 19-seat Let L-410/Twin Otter equipment. The runway only went bituminous (replacing laterite) in 2010, and the field remains a lifeline connection for the Maroon/indigenous communities of the Haut-Maroni with no road access to the coast.
