Runway is short and narrow (800m/18m) with high terrain and trees near the approach ends, so it is used only by light turboprops/STOL-type aircraft. An obstruction/night-landing lighting project was funded and underway as of 2024, but the field remains day-operations only in practice; terminal was badly damaged by Hurricane Beryl (1 July 2024) and has since been reopened for commercial flights.

SVG Air Grenada is the principal scheduled carrier serving Lauriston Airport (CRU), operating multiple weekly Twin Otter flights connecting Carriacou to Maurice Bishop Intl (GND) and St Vincent. Per SVG Air's official CRU reopening notice issued Aug 7 2024 after Hurricane Beryl damage, ground handling at the station is provided by SVG Air Grenada itself as a self-handling carrier under Station Manager Dexter Lendore, with manual operations pending full systems restoration.
